Exord armchair by Cassina

Description:

Exord is a high-backed, swivel armchair designed for the needs of home comfort. Ergonomic and with an informal approach, it is the first project signed by American designer Jeffrey Bernett for Cassina. Its shape is designed to give support to the body, especially in the lumbar area and around the head. In the area near the shoulders, a light padding has been applied to make the support softer. Exord has a sustainable core: in an upcycling effort, its components can be separated at the end of its life cycle, the frame’s rubbers include a percentage of vegetable polyols, and the padding is made of recycled PET fiber from Plastic Bank®. Completing the armchair is a matching ottoman and an optional kidney-rest cushion to provide more lumbar support when raising the legs.

Active since 1927, Cassina was one of the first Italian companies to focus on furniture research and innovation. It partnered with distinguished architects and designers to find new ways of designing and thus beginning industrial design in Italy as early as the 1950s. Cassina has always had a very precise identity aknowledged allover the world, due to the balance between technology and craftsmanship. The Cassina collection "I grandi Maestri" began in 1964 with the collaboration of designers such as Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
