Designed by Gio Ponti and produced for Altamira, an American company founded by the nephew of the Spaniard De Cuevas, it was displayed in the company’s showroom in New York, along with furniture by Ico Parisi, Franco Albini, Carlo De Carli, Ignazio Gardella and others, chosen from among the most representative exhibitors at the 10th Milan Triennale. The Molteni Group is an Italian furniture company that has been operating in the design furniture business since 1934, distinguishing itself over time by the continuous search for quality.
By combining technology with tradition, Molteni has defined its own identity from the '70s in terms of modular furniture design, developping with Luca Meda a range of furnishing solutions for the whole house. Furthermore it partnered with some of the most important designers such as Pier Luigi Cerri, Michele De Lucchi, Rodolfo Dordoni, Foster & Partners, Ferruccio Laviani, Jean Nouvel, Pagani and Perversi, Bruno Reichlin, Aldo Rossi, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Gerard Van den Berg, Hannes Wettstein, Patricia Urquiola and Paola Navone.
