Soriana armchair by Cassina

Description:

The very idea of comfort that becomes an armchair. Soriana saw the light in 1969 from an intuition of Afra and Tobia Scarpa destined to change the history of upholstered furniture: taking advantage of new techniques for forming polyurethane foam to create an armchair which, for the first once, it does not need internal support, but takes shape from the grip of the metal structure that houses it. Balance game formal/informal, welcoming and open to new rituals, Soriana was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1970 as a masterpiece of complexity achieved with simple tools.

The internal padding based on BioFoam® microspheres, a bioplastic of plant origin, is the result of the update developed by Cassina with Tobia Scarpa as part of the Cassina LAB project for the promotion of well-being and sustainable design. The comfort of the seat is further increased thanks to a blown fiber padding made from PET 100% recycled from Plastic Bank®.
